Marcoi' and The Princess

So . . . the deal with my last post "Fallen Bird", and this little
number, is basically that the guy I was recently dating told me that he would be embarrassed to tell his friends and family what I do for a living . . . that I am a cook. I'll spare you all the details except I severely misjudged his character. I've been treated badly many times, and put up with way too much crap before, but never have I had someone tell me that I was not good enough for them to be proud to be with me. Pat myself on the back though-I left.

Marcoi': "My name is Marcoi' . . . I look noting like dis in real life . . . dis is just your fantasy of how you wish I looked . . . actually. . . I look like a republican . . . with a right-side part."

Princess: "Aahh . . ."

Marcoi': "I am highly succesful business man . . . I travel far and wide . . . you can use my frequent flyer miles . . . I will take you . . . ANYWHERE."

Princess: "Gasp! How could I be so lucky!"

Marcoi': "Did you buy that dress to impress me today?"

Princess: "Of course . . . I never owned a single nice thing before I met you . . . I never had any reason to look good before I met you. You have saved me from my raggy, peasant life."

Marcoi': "What is it you do Maiden, to earn your keep?"

Princess: "I . . . er . . . mmm . . . eh . . . eee . . . cook?"

Family and Friends: "Ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! he! he! he! he! . . . ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! . . . Loser! . . . How embarrassing! . . . She's a what?!?"

Marcoi': "You shame me."

Princess: "Pompous, self-righteous, smug, shallow, hypocritical, judgmental, arrogant, small, small, small, small boy-man . . . If you were not the self-important, "successful" white-collar person you are . . . I, would be out of YOUR league. Get it? Good."

Hey, people gotta eat! Does this guy not watch TV and see that cooks are Rock Stars?! As my friend said to me after her third failed marriage "My picker must be broken" (she picked some bad ones)

Aaahhh Tracey, there lies the problem. Like a friend of mine said, "it's not that you're a cook-it's how much money you make as a cook. If you were Kat Cora (not sure how to spell her name) he probably wouldn't have had a problem with my occupation". Shallow!

Been enjoying your writing. Hope you don't mind if I follow..

And geeze, thank goodness his true colors were revealed before you wasted much more time on him. Probably doesn't have a creative bone in his body.

Hi Barbara! Thanks for reading my blog :) I checked out your blog and your pots are super cool! I can't believe you do all that carving by hand? I haven't read through your blog yet, so you might already have addressed this, but if you have particular pots you really love do you ever consider slipcasting them? I've never tried it, but I can see how it could really work making multiples of your work-then again the individuality is good too. Nice stuff! so playful . . .

Thanks Deb. My blog is quick reading at the moment as I've only been at it a few weeks :) Slipcasting has crossed my mind, but while I'm happy with where my pots are at (or going)at the moment, I always see different options or room for improvement in pretty much ALL of them. Besides, I kind of love the carving part most and don't really like working with plaster. I should probably be more disciplined!

Like any great work of art, our lives are shaped as much by what we add as what we remove. Thank god, you removed that ass---- from your life. You deserve so much more....and I bet you're cooking rocks!!

Barbara, I think if you have the patience and skill to do all that carving, you are very disciplined indeed. My thoughts were more along the line of mass production, which is usually not where my thoughts go. Unique and one of a kind is always better though.

Thanks everyone for all your support! My spirit took a blow for a couple of days and you guys are helping to build it back up!
