Kalifornia and Kashmir

I'm very happy with the results from this second test firing. I didn't get as much variation as I had hoped for, but I think that's a result of the glaze still being a little too thick, and the slip I sprayed not being thick enough. One more test and then I'm doing a large firing. There was one cup that had some variation and Adam said it was his favorite because of the variation, so I think I'll be onto something once I get the hang of it. The photos look a lot flatter and uniform in color than the pots do in person. This cup below is another glaze I have that I have a full five gallon bucket of but haven't been using much, so I thought I'd test it out as well and I think it looks really nice. Great interaction between the liner and the exterior glaze. Well-I picked Adam up from the airport yesterday. I had been flying solo since Thursday. He flew out of Boston so it was a long drive to bring him and pick him up, but it's nice to get out of the area sometimes. He was in North Carolina somewhere. Can't remember the city. I know he flew into Washington/Dulles. Oh my god, the best part of the drive yesterday was that on channel 33-the bridge-on Sirius they were playing all Led Zeppelin. I listened to it for four hours. I'll be flying out of Boston myself in about two weeks. I'll be going to sunny, southern California . Even if it's not sunny, it should be a lot warmer than it's been around here lately. Brrr-it's been windy and #$!#& cold.

I love the subtle colors of the mugs - like Jeff said the creamy color - a perfect description. I like Led Zepplin too.

When I first met my husband in 1982, he had a huge poster of Robert Plant (Led Zep days) hanging over his bed. I remember him telling me that if he could be anyone for a day, he'd trade places with Robert. Then I read, Hammer of the Gods... ;)

We still occasionally get the Led out at home.

The mug test glazing turned out terrifically! The beads are wonderful too - easy to make and unique.

I like these glazes - from the photo they look to be buttery - nice to hold.
Don't you love to find that great driving music when you're by yourself on a long trip - and Zeppelin is the best!
Have a good holiday!

I like the buttery white glaze.
I could not figure how to pipe in Led Zepplelin when I posted the pictures of the building going down- it was wide open while the guys were working on the building- fun while they were here- but I like a little smoother while working on pots myself.
Good luck with the glazing- nice looks.

Thanks everyone. Can't wait for the kiln to cool today. The slip is on thicker outside, the creamy glaze a little thinner and I tested my matt black thinly. The creamy glaze is kind of smooth and glossy when thick actually-but softens a little when thicker. The orangy/yellowish glaze however-the best way I can describe it at this thickness is sexy. It reminds me of skin. Feels buttery and smooth. I love the feel of those mugs.

Good looking pots DW. I saw LZ in Raleigh, NC back in 1970, a place called Dorton Arena. A HUGE space to fill with sound, but they did it.
